Our collaboration with U.S.-based designer Erdem Selek—facilitated through the design-forward team at Rubberband Products—is a testament to the power of restraint, material honesty, and the beauty of form-led thinking. We first met Erdem at SaloneSatellite, Milan, where his exhibition was deliberately stripped of distraction: a pure white space with just a handful of meticulously considered objects placed on the floor. That kind of conceptual clarity spoke volumes, and we were immediately drawn to his approach.

Working in partnership with Rubberband Products, we helped bring two of Erdem’s signature designs into production: the Corrugated Ruler and the Cone Pen—both minimalist yet highly expressive objects that challenge conventional perceptions of utility.

The Corrugated Ruler, manufactured in China using precision-moulded ABS plastic, was a deeply rewarding piece to develop. Its structure is defined by a series of gentle ridges—each centimetre marked subtly, with every fifth centimetre rising slightly higher to cast a shadow that registers both visually and tactilely. The ruler becomes an optical object, as much a study in rhythm and shadow as it is a measuring tool. Its design required absolute accuracy in mould tooling and surface finishing to maintain that delicate balance of tactility and minimalism.

We also produced the Cone Pen, a perfectly weighted and sculptural writing instrument that pairs simplicity of form with comfort in use. Both objects reflect Erdem’s dedication to clarity, quietness, and refined industrial design.

This project highlighted not only our ability to work with emerging and philosophically minded designers, but also our deep respect for material nuance and production integrity. It was a pleasure to support Erdem’s vision and help translate it from concept to reality—without compromise.
